The Bergen Ranch began in the 1880's with an original dugout homestead in the panhandle of Oklahoma. Since that time the Bergen's have maintained ranches around the state adding the ranch in Sulphur, Oklahoma 32 years ago. The FB of the ranch brand originally came about from Floyd Bergen and has evolved to represent the Family Bergen.
We are hands on ranchers with a constant contact approach. Our animals know us and we know them. We practice holistic management intensive grazing or "MIG". MIG means moving animals daily to fresh pastures.
We rely on a relationship with the Noble Research Institute as partners in soil sequestration research. The Bergen Ranch consists of carefully managed native grassland which increase root structure, trap moisture and encourage lush prairies. This process of carbon sequestration allows the soil to regenerate, providing forage for cattle and a home for wildlife.
The Bergen Ranch houses 84 wind turbines, part of a 113 turbine wind farm owned and operated by Allete Clean Energy. We proudly partner with Allete to participate in a system of clean sustainable energy production.
Full time staff and their families live and work on the ranch locations. The Bergen family works the ranch as well as a few folks in the back office in Norman, OK.
The larger 12,000 acre property located near Ardmore, Oklahoma heads the line up of five locations. The ranch team raises grass finished beef over three sites in Oklahoma and two in the North Texas area.
